''Sagittaria pygmaea'', the pygmy arrowhead, is an aquatic plant species native to eastern Asia. It is reported from Japan (including the Ryukyu Islands), Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Bhutan and China (Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang).〔(Flora of China v 23 p 86, ''Sagittaria pygmaea'' )〕〔(Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, ''Sagittaria pygmaea'' )〕 ''Sagittaria pygmaea'' grows in shallow water in marshes, channels and rice paddies.
